COLUMBIA, S.C. – Southeastern Institute Columbia recently served as a key sponsor at the Columbia Chamber of Commerce’s annual Power in Heels event at the Capital City Club on Thursday, November 14, 2019.
Power in Heels is an evening for female Power Partners to network and speak with women in business in the Midlands Region of South Carolina. The Columbia Chamber’s Power Partnerships allow organizations to engage in a meaningful way by creating networking opportunities with industry and government leaders. Exclusive Power Partner events are held throughout the year to provide greater opportunities to interact with key government, military, and business leaders throughout central South Carolina.
Southeastern Institute students, faculty, and staff were on hand for the evening of networking and served as the event’s official massage sponsor. Students and staff had the opportunity to meet with other chamber members including government officials, industry partners, and potential employers. In addition, students and faculty in the Professional Clinical Massage Therapy Program provided free massages for attendees as part of internship requirements which offer Southeastern students hands-on training and experiential learning.
The evening’s key speakers included Crystal Gaines, Chief Operating Officer at Girl Scouts of South Carolina Mountains to Midlands, and City of Cayce, S.C., mayor Elise Partin. The event featured a high heels competition which was won by Southeastern staff member Tamisha Foster.
This is the third consecutive year Southeastern Institute Columbia has participated in Power in Heels. The school has been a member of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce for more than a decade and stays actively involved in numerous chamber events including monthly networking, special forums, and volunteer opportunities.
