Veterans’ Day Parade[Tulsa, Oklahoma, November 5, 2018] – Community HigherEd will be walking in the 2018 Tulsa Veteran’s Day Parade on November 12, 2018. This 2018 parade will be Tulsa Citizens’ 100th celebration of the service of our Nation’s Veterans. Employees and students from all three Community HigherEd campuses will walk in the parade. They will hand out candy and celebrate the support that Tulsa has offered for Veterans.

“It is an honor for us to participate in such a great event. Our schools strive every day to honor those who served us. The parade is one of the small ways for us to express our gratitude to Veterans and their families in the Tulsa area,” commented Leonda Clements, Senior Financial Aid Specialist and Veteran Coordinator

Earlier this year, the Community HigherEd colleges became the first Purple Heart certified technical colleges in Oklahoma. Additionally the three colleges now have dedicated parking spots for Purple Heart recipients.

Community HigherEd is devoted to accommodating Veterans at all three campuses. Just in the year 2018, the Community HigherEd colleges have graduated 37 Veterans from their programs. Community HigherEd annually partakes in events to assist Veterans around Tulsa. Recently the nonprofit donated their time to Tulsa Stand Down, where the students and instructors at Clary Sage College provide free haircuts for 97 Veterans and homeless Veterans. Until November 15th, the Community HigherEd campuses will be accepting non-perishable food items as part of their food drive to support the Veteran Pantry at the Coffee Bunker, a non-profit that supports Tulsa Veterans.
