Unitek Learning is thrilled to announce that on December 3, 2021, Kathleen Sebelius, former Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services for the Obama Administration, will be a featured speaker at the Sixth Annual Unitek Conference. New York Times bestselling author of The Happiness Advantage and Big Potential, Shawn Achor, will serve as keynote speaker. Dr. Tim Bristol will also lead the event with his expertise and impact on healthcare services. This year, the theme is “Co-Creating the Future One Decision at a Time: The Future Is…” The virtual event will bring together thought leaders, educators, and clinical healthcare partners to explore the interconnected relationship of the future, decision making, and leadership.

Kathleen Sebelius served in President Obama’s Cabinet as the 21st Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, where she worked to pass and implement the Affordable Care Act. During this time, Forbes named Sebelius one of the 100 most powerful women in the world. Kathleen is one of America’s foremost experts on national and global health issues, human services, and executive leadership. As CEO of Sebelius Resources LLC, she provides strategic advice to companies, investors, and non-profit organizations.

Keynote speaker Dr. Shawn Achor is an expert on the connection between happiness and success. Shawn will delve into the immediacy of decision-making and how it can impact the lives of teachers and students in the present and the future. Shawn has lectured and worked with over a third of the Fortune 100 companies, the National Football League, the National Basketball Association, the Pentagon, and the White House. His Happiness Advantage training is one of the largest and most successful positive psychology corporate training.

“Kathleen and Shawn’s mission is one that Unitek ultimately shares,” said Dr. Abdel Yosef, Provost and Chief Academic Officer at Unitek Learning. “In order for educators to effectively prepare students, they must infuse their approach with positive reinforcement. Among other concepts, our goal at this conference is to study how positive psychology can transform decision making in education, the workforce, and beyond.”

At the conference, executive nursing and allied health educators will discuss how to achieve teaching excellence. Some of these esteemed speakers and workshop facilitators Unitek’s Vice President of Faculty Development and New Student Experience, Jamie Holcomb, BM MM, CPC, and Vice President of Online Architecture and Innovation, Beth Bruner. Also, Karilyn Van Oosten and regional and location partners committed to growing workforce development solutions will discuss innovations for the future of health care employment.

The virtual event will begin at 8:00 am PST. Unitek’s leadership team will warmly welcome participants from academia, healthcare, and the extended community. Afterward, Shawn Achor will deliver his keynote address. Live panel discussions hosted by Unitek executives will follow the keynote address. Attendees will also have access to an exhibit hall with various organizations at the forefront of technology and educational products. The conference will conclude by 4:00 pm with closing remarks from Dr. Yosef.
