Joining millions around the world participating in the global generosity movement on December 1, 2020, CSPEN will celebrate GivingTuesday with a focus on facing the uncomfortable issue of racial inequality in higher education and how together we can and will do more!

Washington DC, November 18, 2020

This GivingTuesday, CSPEN hopes to inspire generosity by sharing with our sector of the higher education community the hard work of a dedicated group of individuals who have developed recommendations designed to assist institutions of higher education in addressing racial inequality on our nation’s private, postsecondary education campuses.

Embracing GivingTuesday’s belief that the catalytic power of generosity is at the heart of the society we build together, unlocking dignity, opportunity, and equity; CSPEN and members of our community have committed considerable resources in an effort to address this vitally important issue.

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. GivingTuesday will kick off the generosity season this year by inspiring people to give back on December 1, 2020, and throughout the year.

“GivingTuesday is a perfect fit with the vision upon which Jeri and I founded CSPEN over seven years – the belief that generosity could unleash the power of people and organizations to transform their communities,” notes Co-Executive Director Tom Netting.

CSPEN is once again participating in this annual giving campaign so that we can raise financial support necessary to continue the development and promotion of the racial inequality initiative and sustain our primary mission as well. Our goal is to obtain $100,000 in tax-deductible donations on or before December 1, 2020.

“Donations from our community, including the vendors, institutions, and interested entities who support our mission, goals, and objectives, has helped us realize a dream, but there is so much more we want to do,” shared Jeri Prochaska, Co-Executive Director. Concluding, “The institutions, their students and the vendors who support them always want to do what’s right, and we are here to support them.”

CSPEN’s overarching mission is to provide post-secondary educational institutions with access to resources and information designed to assist the institutional community in achieving compliance with state and federal legislative requirements and regulatory requirements and supporting students futures through the promotion of student access, completion, and successful entry into the occupational discipline and career of each student’s choosing.

GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

People demonstrate generosity in many ways on GivingTuesday. Whether it’s helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving to causes we care about, every act of generosity counts. GivingTuesday has raised billions of dollars for critical causes around the world and gets 21 billion impressions on social media from people and organizations speaking up for the causes that matter to them and encouraging others to get involved in their communities.

“GivingTuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just on one day but throughout the year.” said Asha Curran, GivingTuesday’s CEO, and co-founder. “With country and community leaders, millions of organizations, and countless givers of all kinds, GivingTuesday is creating a shared space where we can see the radical implications of a more generous world.”
