SALT LAKE CITY— Independence University (IU) is proud to continue showing its commitment to helping young people gain an education by donating 20 laptops to Helping Any Way We Can (HAWWC).

HAWWC is a nonprofit organization that seeks to foster a commitment to youth by helping them transition into adulthood. The organization aims to do this through mentoring and educational programs that promote pro-social friendships and strong interpersonal skills, all while inspiring a sense of hope in the future. Youth are also provided with access to clinics, training, and mentorship programs with counselors.

“These laptops will be used by our youth to give them access to online learning,” says Adrianne Carter, President of HAWWC. “We are here to see that our young people continue to get the education and tools they need to be successful. These laptops will help us do so.”

Joseph Dunlop, Associate Campus Director for Independence University, says the donation falls right in line with IU’s purpose of educating people through online learning. “We want to help as many people become independent through education or through organizations who sponsor individuals to help them become independent,” says Dunlop. Independence University is grateful to continue enabling people of all ages to receive an education through access to technology.

The donation took place in June 2020. The laptops were shipped to HAWWC’s headquarters in Virginia, along with a Bluetooth mouse and carrying case for each laptop.

Helping Any Way We Can (HAWWC) is a subordinate organization and fund held within the Players Philanthropy Fund, a trust operating as a Section 501 (c)(3) charity.
