Nashville, TN – Animation Career Review (ACR) recognized Nossi College of Art’s Commercial Illustration program in three rankings: #1 Illustration School in Tennessee, #3 Illustration School in the Southeast, and Top 40 in the country (#38).

Launched in 2011, ACR’s website is a digital information resource for creatives interested in pursuing careers in animation, game design, graphic design, and digital art. They research and publish details about places to study across the United States, careers to consider pursuing, software recommendations, and interview educators. To be included in their rankings, ACR evaluates specific criteria including academic reputation, admission selectivity, depth of the program, and overall value. Over 140 schools are considered for these recognitions and rankings.

“Our illustration program is vibrant, dynamic and progressive,” said Mark Fleming, Nossi Commercial Illustration Program Coordinator. “Our regimented program combines foundational skills in the traditional mediums along with digital and 3D courses.”

Nossi College’s Commercial Illustration program continues to evolve based on the professional careers available to graduates. Fleming works with an advisory board of professionals in Nashville ensuring curriculum stays relevant for job creators in the area.

The advisory board is made up of professional book authors, art directors, freelancers, agency owners, and college educators who meet twice a year to discuss Nossi’s curriculum and changes that need to be considered and implemented.

“Nossi’s differential is the instruction of Graphic Design and print production courses in our Illustration degree,” said Cyrus Vatandoost, Nossi’s Executive Vice President. “Upon graduation, students are prepared for a wide array of job scenarios in the real world because they are prepared to develop a variety of work including illustrations, designs, and motion graphics.“

A brief history of the College: Nossi began as an art school in 1973 and evolved into an art college in 1982. Ms. Nossi, an artist herself, taught the important aspects of commercial art to her college students. Nossi outgrew its classroom space multiple times before investing $10 million in its new Nashville campus in 2010. Nossi’s instruction also evolved over time, from a fine art focus to production art in the 1990s to a design and technology concentration today. Nossi College of Art offers five degrees: photography, video & film, web & interactive, graphic design media, and commercial illustration.
