The Bakery at Sullivan University, which satisfied the public with European-style treats and cakes made by chefs and students in the Louisville school’s baking and pastry arts program, is no longer in business.
Sullivan University made the decision to close The Bakery on Feb. 15, according to a statement provided by a spokesperson for the private school.
The Bakery at Sullivan University was located at 3100 Bardstown Road, just off the Watterson Expressway and across the street from the school’s main campus.
“Much like the former Winston’s Restaurant, which was located on Sullivan’s main campus, The Bakery was originally opened in support of our educational mission to serve our students, providing them with an opportunity for hands-on, industry experience,” the university’s statement said. “As we have watched the industry expand beyond all expectations in the Louisville area, due in large part to our own graduates, and provide a wealth of opportunities to students, the operations of The Bakery have become less focused on education and more of an auxiliary service to the public.
