Alliant International University of Scripps Ranch says Sara Saadat was returning to campus after visiting her family in Iran.

A San Diego college student, her sister and their mother were among the 176 people killed on Wednesday when a Ukrainian jetliner crashed after taking off from an airport in Tehran.

Iran announced Saturday that its military had “unintentionally” shot down the plane and blamed “human error.”

The college student was identified as 23-year-old Sara Saadat, who was seeking a doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Alliant International University, a small private school in Scripps Ranch.

The attack also killed her sister, Saba Saddat, who was studying science at the University of Alberta, and the girls’ mother, Shekoufeh Choupannejad, a physician, according to the Edmonton Journal.
