The House will take up legislation designed to give students additional protections under the GI Bill and increase transparency and accountability among education programs that receive Veterans Affairs funding.

— Schools receiving GI Bill funding would have to inform prospective students of the cost of attendance, how much their benefits cover and student outcomes, under The Protect the GI Bill Act, H.R. 4625 (116), introduced by Rep. Mike Levin (D-Calif.).

SPEAKING OF: During a CNN town hall on Monday night, former Vice President Joe Biden told a veteran that he would “attempt” to eliminate the 15-year time limit on use of the GI Bill for those discharged before Jan. 1, 2013. That limit was lifted for those discharged on or after that date under the Forever GI Bill.

— “We only have one sacred obligation,” Biden told the veteran, “to protect those who we send to war and equip them; when they come home, to make sure they have everything they’re entitled to.”
