U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos was in Winter Park on Thursday to catch the first round of the NBA 2K League’s tournament at Full Sail University.
DeVos’ son, Ryan DeVos, is the director of Magic Gaming, the Orlando Magic’s esports squad.
Magic Gaming kicked off the tournament on Thursday with a 62-54 win against the Memphis Grizzlies’ team.
DeVos, part owner of the Orlando Magic, is the wife of Amway co-founder Richard DeVos’ eldest son, Dick.
A Michigan native and part-time Florida resident, she sometimes watches Magic home games from her family’s seats near the team’s bench or from their suite.
Squads representing 21 NBA teams have filled the 500-seat, $6 million arena at Full Sail since the tournament started on Thursday.
