Stratford University is closing its campus in western Henrico County and two others in Virginia.

The closings mark yet another departure of a for-profit university campus in the state.

The Fairfax County-based private educational college plans to close its campuses at 11104 W. Broad St. in the Short Pump area and ones in Newport News and Virginia Beach because the locations were not financially viable, said David Brand, the school’s vice president of academic affairs.

Stratford’s remaining four U.S. campuses — in Falls Church, Woodbridge, Alexandria and Baltimore — will remain open as well as a location in New Delhi, India.

“We are not going out of business. We are in good shape financially,” Brand said. “We are just closing these three campuses.

“We want to keep our good name and take care of our students.”
