Kostman is the current President of the Arizona Private School Association (APSA). Elected and installed for the 2019-2020 term, Kostman says he is looking forward to the opportunity to make a difference. He will kick off the 52nd Annual conference May 3 in Phoenix.

“Private schools are the go-to source for the latest training and career development options, tailored to meet the needs of Arizona workers and employers,” Kostman said. “As regulations change, it’s imperative that we are on the forefront of those changes.”

APSA is the oldest and largest association of private postsecondary schools in Arizona. Since 1978, the organization has worked closely with state administrators, legislators and regulators. The member schools offer everything from certificate programs to PhD programs.

Kostman’s desire to give back does not stop with APSA. He was also recently re-appointed to the Governor’s Arizona Commission for Postsecondary Education (ACPE). As a commissioner, he was instrumental in assisting with an initiative to help as many Arizona students as possible fill out the free application for federal student aid (FAFSA®). In addition, for the first time in the history of Arizona, there are five representatives on the commission from career technical education providers.

“It’s important for the voices of our sector to be heard,” Kostman added. “Not all educational opportunities are the same, having input from all these career education professionals will not only help our students, it will help all colleges and universities reach their goals of better education opportunities for students in our state.”

Kostman shows equal dedication to his students at the Mesa Campus. Whether a certificate program or associate degree, the success of his students is at the top of his priorities.

“We drill down into the lives of our students and are truly a partner in their journey, he said. “I like to say that here at Pima Medical Institute, we know our students not just by their names but also by their dreams.”

He added, “It’s one of the things that brought me to Pima Medical. The leadership here believes in making a real difference, in the lives of our students as well as in our community.”

Pima Medical Institute’s Mesa Campus offers Dental Assistant, Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant/Nurse Aide and Pharmacy Technician certificate programs. The campus offers the following associate degree programs: Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Paramedic, Physical Therapist Assistant, Radiography and Respiratory Therapy.
