Tulsa, Oklahoma, May 14th, 2019 – Oklahoma Technical College will be hosting a Veteran/Military Resource Fair at their Tulsa campus on May 15th, 2019 in conjunction with Military Appreciation month. This event will feature federal, state and local agencies that offer benefits and services to Veteran and Military citizens of Oklahoma. OTC will host this event from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. This is a free event open to the public.

“Approximately 80% of our veterans are not aware of the benefits they have earned or where to even begin finding out. Through bringing these agencies together, we have created a one-stop shop for our service members and their families. Additionally, the majority of these agencies Service Officers are Veterans themselves, so they have a kinship with those they are serving. This event is an engaging way to connect Veterans to the benefits they deserve,” said Leonda Clements, Community HigherEd Veterans Coordinator.

Here is a list of all currently registered attendees: Oklahoma Dept of Veteran Affairs, St John Home Care, The Coffee Bunker, Trio – Tulsa Community College, The University of Tulsa – Veteran Success Center, Military One Source, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Owasso Army Recruiters, Veterans Upward Bound – ECU, UCO Strips – Veterans Upward Bound, Blue Star Mothers Chapter 5 Broken Arrow, Eagle Ops, Veteran Services – Oklahoma Employment and Security Services , VA Suicide Prevention, Oklahoma Veterans Alliance Community, Volunteers of America, Citizen Soldiers for Life, GI Wishes and Caregiver Information Program for Mortin.

“We are hoping this event brings in Veterans from all over the community. Tulsa Veterans are in need of basic resources that they could have access to if they knew where to look. We encourage anyone who is interested in this Veteran/Military Resource Fair to reach out to us at Community Care College to find out more information,” said Clements.

Community HigherEd is devoted to accommodating Veterans at all three campuses and annually partakes in events to assist Veterans around Tulsa. CHE donates their time to Tulsa Stand Down, where the students and instructors at Clary Sage College provide free haircuts for homeless Veterans. CHE also partners with the Coffee Bunker, a non-profit that supports Tulsa Veterans, on many outreaches including food drives and free haircut events. In 2018, the three CHE colleges became the first Purple Heart technical colleges in Oklahoma.
