Tulsa, Oklahoma, May 22, 2019 – Community Care College will host a public CPR course on Friday, June 7th, 2019. This course will last for four hours from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Tickets are $60 and can be purchased online or in person at Community Care College. Those who complete the course will receive a certified e-card and book in the mail from the American Heart Association. The card is good for up to two years.

CPR Class“You don’t have to be in the medical field to learn how to perform CPR. Anyone can take a class and learn how to save a life! If you’ve learned CPR in the past, you should refresh your knowledge with CPR classes every few years or so to ensure you’re ready to act in any situation.” said Julie Benson, Community Care College Medical Assistant department head.

The course will cover an in-depth knowledge of how, when, where, and why to apply CPR in a situation. It will be taught by the Community Care College Medical Assistant department head and instructor, Julie Benson.

“Did you know that 88% of cardiac arrests happen inside the home? Only 6.4% of these victims survive. In many cases, this was because many people in these situations didn’t know how to perform CPR. More than 200,000 people die of cardiac arrest each year. When people know how to perform CPR, up to 50,000 of those deaths could be prevented.” said Benson.

Medical Assistant students at Community Care College are trained in the areas of phlebotomy, ECG’s, bacterial culture growth and evaluation, pulmonary function tests, autoclave usage, assisting in Minor Surgical procedures, capillary blood collections, CLIA-waived lab tests, and more.
