Tulsa, Oklahoma, May 2, 2019 – Clary Sage College Interior Design students have designed a room for the 2019 Tulsa Designer Showcase at the Harwelden Mansion. These students are the first students to ever participate in the Tulsa Designer Showcase. After being invited by Teresa Knox to participate, the students worked on their designs as a class project before presenting them to the Harwelden board for approval. Their designs are currently on display in the Harwelden Mansion elevator lobby. The Tulsa Designer Showcase begins Thursday, May 2, 2019, and ends Sunday, May 19, 2019.

“Our students are the first students to ever participate in the Tulsa Designer Showcase. This is an amazing accomplishment and I believe it says a lot about how the community views our school. We are developing artists with a strong knowledge of the industry and experiences like this make our program one of a kind. We are so grateful for this opportunity to showcase the growing talent that is right here in Tulsa.” said Alex Carlson-Erichsen, Department Head of Interior Design at Clary Sage College.

The 2019 Designer Showcase features the work of local Tulsa interior designers and students. These individuals have volunteered their time and talents to design rooms in the Harwelden Mansion. The Harwelden Mansion is located only minutes from Downtown and Tulsa’s Gathering Place.

“The talent and commitment of these students inspire me. It was a joyful experience to mentor them as they designed a space for a historic piece of Tulsa architecture that pays homage to the Tudor aesthetic. They also added a fresh look with rich textiles and reinterpreting original furnishings with custom art Susan Eddings-Perez commissioned for the space.” said Erichsen.

The Clary Sage College Interior Design program is offered as a diploma program and is available both on ground and online. Through the Interior Design program, students gain the knowledge and skills necessary to address the functionality, safety, and quality of interior spaces. The program is carefully balanced pairing hands-on design with the necessary knowledge, research, and technical skills needed to enter the workforce as a designer.
