Two Pittsburgh-area technical schools are merging, creating an educational institution with an enrollment of about 410 students.

Dean Institute of Technology is merging with Rosedale Technical College effective Thursday, with the combined facility operating under the Rosedale Technical College flag.

Rosedale Tech will absorb Dean Tech’s students into its programs in Kennedy. Both schools are known for offering hands-on technical training.

“The combination of these two iconic institutions is a very positive step toward securing the future of technical training in Western Pennsylvania,” Rosedale Tech President Dennis Wilke said in a prepared statement. “By joining forces, students will have the opportunity to continue to seek training in the skilled trades so desperately needed by our local economy.”
