Grantham University is proud to announce the appointment of Scott Andrews to the role of university president and chief executive officer. Mr. Andrews assumes the leadership role effective today, May 30, 2017. He succeeds former Grantham University president, Mr. Joseph McGrath, who retired from the position in 2014, and Dr. Cheryl Hayek, who subsequently served as interim president during the university’s search for a permanent leader.

“I am delighted for Scott to assume his new role at the helm of Grantham University. Having known Scott for many years, I am confident he enthusiastically supports Grantham’s mission to enable life-changing opportunities for those who serve, as well as all adult learners seeking quality, higher education,” said Dr. Herbert London, chairman of Grantham’s Board of Governors. “As the university moves forward in creating a level playing field in education, Scott’s extensive leadership background, innate business acumen and strategic vision for excellence in higher learning will serve the university and its students well.”

Mr. Andrews attended Dartmouth College and is a cum laude graduate of the University of Virginia. He has been involved at the executive or board level of 34 companies, while balancing his professional time in a range of philanthropic leadership positions.

He joins Grantham at an exciting juncture in the 100 percent online university’s 66-year history of academic service. In the past 16 years, the university has grown to nearly 20,000 students and has conferred more than 19,000 degrees. Outcomes-based programs taught by instructors with years of experience in their fields of instruction, a focus on affordability and flexibility, and personalized, proactive student support, create a complete “package” that draws students from around the world. With 41 percent of its graduates returning to pursue a second degree*, Grantham University is poised for even greater success. Under the leadership of Mr. Andrews, Grantham will continue to pursue bold and innovative ways to serve its students, communities and the higher education landscape.

“I am honored and grateful to be selected for this distinguished opportunity to lead Grantham University and continue its rich and longstanding tradition of bringing higher education to the students we serve,” said Mr. Andrews. “As I step into my new role, I look forward to working with the university leadership team and staff to support continual improvement of the institution. We will diligently strive to enhance our Mission with a laser focus on exceptional programs and educational experiences that position our students for their ultimate success.”

Mr. Andrews has worked within large international organizations and has been a founding partner of a successful financial services business. Additionally, he served for three years as Chairman of the Board of the Hill School in Middleburg, Va., and was the architect in developing the school’s successful endowment. He currently serves on the University of Virginia College Foundation Board and is also a 2016 graduate of the Fellows Program at the Halftime Institute.
