Daymar College has told its students through a letter that they might no longer be able to receive federal financial aid and that the school could ultimately decide to close if it fails to be re-accredited by June 12.

The letter sent to students Feb. 1 and obtained by the Daily News said Daymar College has been pursuing accreditation with a recognized accreditor since then-U.S. Education Secretary John King upheld a decision in December 2016 to end recognition of the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools.

The letter said Daymar College was given the June 12 deadline to get accredited with another recognized accreditor. Although it said the college is working toward that goal, it also said it’s unlikely it will make the deadline.

“With the deadline of June 12, 2018, approaching, it is unlikely that new accreditation will be obtained prior to this deadline,” the letter said.
