Students Advance to National Advertising Competition

[KETTERING, OH, 4/7/21] – The American Advertising Federation recently announced the District 5 ADDY competition results, and four students from The Modern College of Design earned ADDY awards. Students and professionals from Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia who won a silver or gold ADDY from their local club competed in this prestigious event.

Kaylee Showalter won a gold ADDY and Best of Show for her POMP branding project. Kaylee is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Design Leadership at The Modern and is co-oping at Lulu + Leo’s, a digital marketing and social media firm, located in Dayton, Ohio (luluandleos.com).

Alexia Woodward won a gold ADDY for her Century Martial Arts Website and silver ADDYs for her OBX Branding and Road Trips USA Website. Alexia is pursuing a bachelor’s degree and is serving as the Creative Director of The Modern’s 2022 National Student Advertising Competition Team.

Hannah Peterson won a silver ADDY for her Packed Snack Co. Branding. Hannah is pursuing a bachelor’s degree and is serving as the Media Director of The Modern’s 2022 National Student Advertising Competition Team.

Josh Marruffo won a silver ADDY for his Axie Infinity Website. Josh is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Design Leadership at The Modern and is co-oping at Bonfire Red, a branding studio in Columbus, Ohio (bonfirered.com), through a cooperative learning experience at The Modern.

“We are proud that industry leaders recognized our students amongst the greatest talent in Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia,” shared Jessica Barry, President of The Modern. “We look forward to the national competition in June.”

The winners have advanced to the AAF National ADDY Competition. AAF will announce the winners at the American Advertising Awards Gala in Nashville, Tennessee on June 3, 2021.
