[KETTERING, OH, 4/26/22] – The Modern College of Design is proud to announce that its student marketing team took second place at the National Student Advertising Competition District 5 event held on April 23, 2022, in Toledo, Ohio.

The 2022 NSAC team members Western Kentucky University won third place, and the University of Kentucky won first. Other colleges that competed in the District 5 competition include Marshall University, Miami University, Murray State University, West Virginia University, and Youngstown University.

The National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC), sponsored by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), is the premier college advertising competition in the nation, providing more than 2,000 students the experience of creating a strategic advertising/marketing/media campaign for a corporate sponsor. Students develop a marketing plan and then pitch their work to sponsors and advertising professionals at the district, semi-final, and national levels.

Advised by instructors Clancy Boyer, Jan Burden, and A.J. Busé, a team of talented students created a strategic marketing campaign promoting Meta Quest 2, Meta’s VR headset. Meta provided each participating school with a VR headset and insight into their strategic plans for Meta’s future. Students worked throughout the academic year to collect data and discover insights that could drive Meta Quest 2’s adoption among high school and college students. The team traveled to Toledo and pitched their campaign to industry leaders, including a Meta brand manager. They received high praise for their mature marketing approach and their professional and genuine presentation style.

The 2022 NSAC team members include Gavin Amspaugh, Val Baker, Kathryn Boor, Tanner Conway, Karleen Goffinett, Delanie Griffen, Parker Hess, Corbin Knief, Emily Legg, Cadee Noertker, Lauren Patchett, Hannah Peterson, Lio Rose, Kat Sizemore, Mav Valentine, Lilly Woodard, Alexia Woodward, Summer Wysong, and Josie Zamora.

“Modern students have a unique blend of design, strategic marketing, and business knowledge,” stated Jessica Barry, president of The Modern. “This combination of skills makes them tough competitors at this event and throughout their careers.”
