Pima Medical Institute Names Regional Directors of Operations

Both, recent campus directors, bring expertise in strategy, growth and a commitment to the medical career college’s student-first approach

Tucson, Ariz. (March 9, 2021) – Pima Medical Institute has announced two regional directors of operations. Prior to this announcement, both held the role of campus director within the medical career college. Each was chosen based on their history of leadership, positive student outcomes and campus cultures, as well as strategic vision and a commitment to the student-first approach of Pima Medical. Tara Dailey and DeWayne Johnson will share operational responsibilities across Pima Medical’s 18 ground campus locations.

Tara Dailey has been with Pima Medical for more than 12 years and for the last six years has led the Colorado Springs campus as Campus Director. In that time, she exceeded Pima Medical’s internal operational and quality metrics, the title of Golden Campus, twice. Other accolades include co-Campus of the Year in 2019, Campus Director of the Year, and the employee-voted Peak Performer award, twice. Colorado Springs earned the highest employee satisfaction in the company on the 2019 annual employee survey.

Dailey began her career with Pima Medical as an Admissions Assistant at the Albuquerque campus. She went on to serve as the Career Services Coordinator and Associate Campus Director before moving to Colorado Springs with her family for her Campus Director role.

Originally from Seattle, Washington, Dailey earned her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Puget Sound.

DeWayne Johnson

DeWayne Johnson, who took on his role in July, had been campus director of Pima Medical’s San Marcos campus for the last three years. He guided the team at this location from day one, building the it to its current status of more than 400 students and ten certificate and associate degree programs. Johnson has proven his expertise with positive student outcomes, as well as high student and employee satisfaction rankings.

Prior to joining Pima Medical, Johnson spent more than 20 years in the career education field, including time as an instructor, program director and director of education. He was also campus president for Westwood College in Los Angeles.

Johnson is also a Certified Public Accountant with managerial experience working for Ernst & Young, LLP and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. Johnson earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting from the University of San Diego and earned his Master of Business Administrations (MBA) from Pepperdine University.

“Both Tara and DeWayne have great experience with daily campus operations, management of budgets, staff and faculty as well as work with employers and community members,” said John Hanson, Chief Operating Officer, Pima Medical Institute. “Their years of experience, focus on student success and ability to blend people skills and operational savvy, makes them the perfect pair to round out this leadership team.”

Dailey and Johnson will be responsible for overseeing and providing direction to all Pima Medical campuses to ensure each is successful in delivering quality education to its students. Dailey will oversee operations at Pima Medical’s campuses in Colorado, New Mexico, Texas and Montana. Johnson will oversee campuses in California, Arizona, Nevada and Washington State.
