[Bridgeview, IL] Northwestern College held a successful food drive to benefit the Bridgeview community, despite COVID causing its halls to be reduced to just a handful of students, staff and faculty that could participate. The College’s annual food drive continues to be in connection with the Bridgeview Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s community-wide effort, with all proceeds going to local food pantries in order to assist Bridgeview community members in need.

Food Drive
Northwestern College hosted a holiday food drive in connection with the Bridgeview Chamber, yielding several boxes of non-perishable foods donated by NC students and staff.

A few box-loads of non-perishable foods and paper products were delivered to the Bridgeview Community Center at the conclusion of the campus-wide effort. This is the Chamber’s 31st year of sponsoring this project, which Northwestern College has strongly supported over the years.

Over the last two weeks, students, faculty and staff were encouraged to bring in non-perishable food and household paper products. With the campus being closed to the public due to COVID, members of the community were invited to drop off donations with security in the college’s lobby.

“We didn’t know what to expect when we launched this year’s food drive,” noted Northwestern College President Lawrence Schumacher. “Due to COVID, the halls of the college are sparse, with the vast majority working and learning virtually. Yet many stepped up and donated a few items in order to help those in need, and for that, we are grateful.”

Those still interested in donating can drop off items at the college’s Bridgeview Campus (7725 S. Harlem Avenue). All donations will be delivered to local food pantries.
