WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, the Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Investment will hold a virtual hearing to examine how the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting higher education in America.

As institutions transitioned to distance education in response to COVID-19, students moved off campus and far too many were left without adequate access to services such as housing, dining, academic support, and mental health care. This lack of services disproportionately impacted vulnerable students including those already experiencing housing and food insecurity.

The hearing will focus on the needs of both students and institutions, and what Congress can do to provide relief.

WHEN: Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 12:00 p.m.

WHAT: Higher Education and Workforce Investment (HEWI) Subcommittee hearing entitled, “A Major Test: Examining the Impact of COVID-19 on the Future of Higher Education.”
