College is committed to ensuring the highest level of safety for all

SPARKS, May 13, 2020. Following the recent announcement by Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak that the State is ready to move into Phase 1 of the Recovery Plan, the Career College of Northern Nevada (CCNN) stated its intention to continue with a hybrid system of distance education and on-campus education as part of their multi-phased Operational Plan. The Plan includes modifications and guidance from the State of Nevada’s Road Map to Recovery and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The college limited in-classroom instruction during the peak infection period but offered online classes through the Moodle Learning Management System (LMS), where appropriate.

CCNN’s Plan focuses on social distancing and appropriate sanitation to reduce the incidence of transmission and protocols for anyone who believes he or she has been in contact with someone who is infected. Phase One of the Recovery Plan outlines six goals:

  1. Social distancing
  2. Quarantine if at risk
  3. Limit gatherings to 10
  4. Sanitation
  5. PPE
  6. Flexible leave policies

“This is an unprecedented time and our priority is to provide the highest level of safety to our students, faculty and staff,” said Nate Clark, President/CEO of CCNN. “Our students successfully transitioned to this distance education and on-campus hybrid model and we are continuing it to ensure their education can continue in a safe, responsible way.”

Returning students can expect some changes outside of the six goals. Staff may not be physically available on site so greater communication is necessary. As many career college students are working adults or parents, prior planning is important. Class scheduling, because of smaller class sizes, is more flexible. Textbook distribution will be directly to students’ parked cars.
