The CARES Act Legislation Allows Summit to Assist its Students during This Challenging Time

San Bernardino, CA, (April 21, 2020) — With three campuses in Southern California, Summit College, is honored to announce that it will use the CARES ACT to support its students by providing grants to help cover expenses related to disruptions to their educations due to the COVID-19 outbreak, including things like course materials and technology as well as food, housing, health care, and childcare.

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) was signed into law in March 2020. A key provision of the legislation allows the Department of Education to direct funding to educational institutions like Summit, which then provide students direct financial assistance through emergency financial grants.

”Through these funds, we will be able to provide support for our students who have a financial need due to the COVID-19 crisis,” says an Executive from Summit College. “We are pleased that the U.S. Department of Education is counting on Summit to distribute these emergency funds to our students.”

Summit College expects to provide emergency grants directly to active students as soon as the funds are made available by the U.S. Department of Education. “It is critical that we begin disbursing these grants to our students as soon as possible, so they can better deal with the financial challenges brought on by this crisis,” the Executive said.

The health and safety of students are our top concerns during this COVID-19 crisis. We have enabled our students to continue the journey toward successful completion of career training by offering our programs via distance learning during the “Safer at Home” period. We look forward to having our students back on our campuses in the near future!
