Trident at American InterContinental University (Trident) is happy to announce that Dr. Stephen Thomas as the first graduate of the University’s Doctor of Business Administration (DBA program).

Dr. Thomas’s Doctoral Studies Project (DSP), titled “Impact of Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) Entrepreneurship Education,” centered on his use of this curriculum in the classroom.

“I chose this subject as I had previously been involved teaching the NFTE curriculum, and had seen NFTE alumni surveys that were done as quantitative research, but I wanted to understand the why behind the numbers,” states Dr. Thomas. “I wanted to learn more about the actual impact the NFTE entrepreneurial experience had on these students and how that helped them transition into college and career.”

Dr. Angie Cox, an alumnus of Trident’s Ph.D. in Business Administration program, served as his DSP Committee chairperson.

“Stephen was the ideal student from the start because of his drive and well-accomplished work,” remarks Dr. Cox. “He was never afraid of obstacles and was excited to dive in head-first in order to help those students who would follow after him. His focus on excellence and improvement made me proud made me proud to be his DSP chair.”

Dr. Thomas currently serves as a professor of business administration and business technology at a community college in Texas. At the start of the DBA program he was a high school teacher, instructing dual-credit business management courses.

“I am honored to be Trident’s first DBA graduate,” states Dr. Thomas. “When I started the program as part of the first cohort, my goal was to be sure I graduated with the first cohort and didn’t lose any time. I am a goal driven individual, and when I start something, I always create a path on how to finish, by looking at the end, and working backwards by creating benchmarks to successfully complete the goal.”

Dr. Thomas holds a Master of Science in Education and Instruction from Missouri State University, a Master of Science in Business Administration and Economic Development from University of Houston-Victoria, and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Central Bible College in Springfield, MO.
