CEHE and Independence University Provide $1 Million to Help Employees During the COVID-19 Pandemic
SALT LAKE CITY — The Center for Excellence in Higher Education, Inc., and its college Independence University (“IU”), are providing $1 million dollars in a special bonus to help employees and their families manage challenges related to the coronavirus pandemic.
Recognizing the growing health crisis and the disruption it has caused to employees and their families, CEHE is providing an immediate $500 bonus to help employees in this time of need. CEHE employees can use these funds to offset any financial burdens they or their families may be facing as a result of the coronavirus. Additionally, CEHE and Independence University are providing all of their adjunct faculty with an immediate $300 bonus (whether or not the adjunct faculty is teaching this term) to help ease any financial burdens they may be experiencing.
“Our intent was to target this $1 million award to those employees who might need it the most during these disruptive times,” says CEO Eric Juhlin. “All we ask in return is that employees keep up their great work, keep supporting each other, and keep doing whatever they can to help our students.”
Juhlin continues, “Everyone in this organization has risen to the occasion, made sacrifices, and worked diligently to ensure that our colleges continue to deliver education and training to our students. I’ve never been more grateful for this company, this organization, and especially our people.”
The proposal for this one-time action was brought before CEHE’s Board of Directors, and they approved it unanimously. The bonuses will be distributed by Wednesday, March 25th.
The only CEHE and IU employees excluded from this special bonus are employees earning over $75,000 per year. While a majority of CEHE’s employees already work from home, those who normally work in the office are also allowed to work from home as this crisis continues to unfold.
It is CEHE’s hope that every organization in America, especially other institutions of higher education, will do their part to support their employees and families during this difficult time.
