The Campus Center will be the first-ever co-located model with Strayer University, serving online students with in-person support

AUGUSTA, Ga.–Capella University has opened its second Campus Center in the country in Augusta, Ga. The institution held a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Campus Center on February 27. The Campus Center is located in the same building as the existing Strayer University Augusta Campus, marking a first for a new model of “co-located” Strayer and Capella University campuses. This location will provide university-specific, in-person support and resources for students attending both universities.

Located at 1330 Augusta West Parkway, the Augusta Campus Center is easily accessible to busy adults and in a centralized location. While the universities operate as separate institutions with different accrediting bodies, student bodies, and academic protocols, the co-location of campuses will help both universities share best practices that benefit students.

“The new Campus Center in Augusta will offer Capella students the best of a flexible online education and the benefits of personalized in-person support,” said Dr. Dick Senese, President of Capella University. “We look forward to sharing the building with Strayer and expanding our education services in Georgia.”

“Both Strayer and Capella are driven by the belief that today’s workforce can’t be supported by yesterday’s education,” said Dr. Michael Plater, President Emeritus of Strayer University. “That is why we are committed to finding new ways to support our students as they work toward advancing or changing careers. I look forward to the increased energy that Capella University and its students will bring to this location.”

Capella University — although exclusively online — is planning to launch Campus Centers across the nation to offer its students resources not typically available to online-only education programs. Capella will do this in two ways: by opening standalone Capella Campus Centers and by tapping into Strayer University’s existing brick-and-mortar presence to provide in-person support to its students in a co-located format. Capella University opened its first standalone Campus Center in downtown Atlanta, Ga. in May 2019.

“Because our adult students are often juggling many responsibilities, they benefit from our flexible offerings to grow their knowledge to make an impact on their profession. We’re pleased more Capella students in Georgia will have access to these in-person resources,” said Dr. Senese.

Owned by Strategic Education, Inc., both universities primarily serve working adult students and share a commitment to innovation, relevancy, and results for all their students. According to a recent study by the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce, Capella University ranks within the top two percent in students’ return on investment over 40 years. This newest Campus Center reinforces the University’s commitment to provide the best opportunities for its students.

All student-facing services remain university-specific with each institution offering their own enrollment services, financial aid support, student support staff, networking and career services events. Students from both institutions will have access to high-speed Wi-Fi and a joint studying space to encourage peer networking and support.

Capella University offers certificates, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees, providing a variety of academic programs, including nursing, business, and psychology. Capella is also one of the only institutions in the country to offer direct assessment competency-based learning, through its FlexPath offerings. Strayer University offers associate’s, bachelor’s and master’s degrees, with a range of courses including criminal justice, business administration, education, information technology, and more.
