CHARLOTTE, N.C. – On Wednesday, January 15, 2020, Southeastern Institute hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the opening of its newest campus in Charlotte, N.C. More than 150 guests were in attendance to witness the big moment, including Charlotte area state and local government officials and businesses.

Southeastern-Institute-Charlotte“We are thrilled by the growth we’ve recently experienced and look forward to this new location which will provide additional resources for all our stakeholders – most importantly our students,” said Robert Keiser, Southeastern Institute Executive Director. “With the opening of this new location, remodeled specifically for Southeastern Institute, we aspire to welcome additional programs which will provide our students with increased opportunities to join the vibrant workforce of the greater Charlotte area, and in turn, support the economic development of the region.”

Wednesday’s event drew numerous dignitaries to the campus. North Carolina Reps. Becky Carney (Charlotte) and Mary G. Belk (Charlotte) were joined by Mecklenburg County Commissioner Pat Cotham to help cut the ribbon. Representatives from the offices of Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) and Senator Thom Tillis (North Carolina) were in attendance, as were staff from Mecklenburg County and the City of Charlotte.

Guests enjoyed a tour of the new facilities prior to the ceremony. The event also included a job fair which featured more than 25 local companies. Southeastern Institute students had the opportunity to meet with potential employers and discuss job opportunities and career development.

Southeastern’s newest campus officially opened to students in October 2019. Located in the Clanton Park neighborhood of South Charlotte, the new campus is located at 207 Regency Executive Park Drive, minutes from the confluence of Interstates 77 and 485. The new location was deemed necessary by Southeastern Institute administration following years of growth which has seen the school’s enrollment rise nearly 15 percent.

The new location encompasses 32,579 square feet of space; which includes classrooms, a media center, a student lounge, a massage clinic, conference rooms, and faculty and staff offices. New classrooms and labs are designed for hands-on instruction and clinical internships and include the most up-to-date audio-visual equipment.

The change of locations comes after more than a decade at the school’s former address at 5250 Seventy-Seven Center Drive in Charlotte. In making the move, Southeastern Institute Charlotte adds an additional 11,000 square feet of space which is comprised mainly of additional classrooms, laboratories, and administrative spaces.
