SALT LAKE CITY— Independence University is proud to help veterans and their families by donating 20 tablets to the Fisher House in Salt Lake City.
The Fisher House provides a place for veteran families to stay—free of charge—while their loved one receives medical treatment at the George E. Wahlen Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The organization aims to provide all of their services completely free for military and veteran families during a medical crisis.
“This donation and any other donations mean so much to our families,” says Quinn Kiger-Good, Fisher House Manager. “A lot of times, families are flown here with just the clothes on their back. These tablets will provide our guests with the ability to do their daily needs while they are away from home.” While the federal government takes care of overheard costs to run the program, the Fisher House relies largely on donations and support from organizations and community members to fulfill their mission.
Dr. Alan Hansen, Executive Director of Independence University, says the January 22nd donation is just one example of the university’s commitment to helping America’s veterans. “We love seeing the difference this technology makes in the recipients’ lives,” says Hansen.
Independence University has previously donated to the Fisher House, supplying them with several laptops. That technology was then donated to young veterans currently attending school, working to further their own education.
