Texas Representative Evelina “Lina” Ortega and Speaker Pro Tem Joseph Moody toured the Pima Medical Institute El Paso Campus on November 22.
Campus Director Pablo Fuentes and Kristen Torres, Regional Director of Operations, facilitated the opportunity for the legislators to walk through each classroom to chat with students and experience the hands-on learning provided at the college.
Highlights of the visit included time with Radiography and Occupational Therapy Assistant students. Two recent graduates even took time to come back to campus share their experiences with Moody and Ortega. Students and legislators asked terrific questions and had meaningful conversations throughout the visit.
Pima Medical’s El Paso campus offers Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Radiography, and Veterinary Technician associate degree programs as well as Dental Assistant, Medical Administrative Assistant, Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy Technician and Veterinary Assistant.
“It is an honor to have our representatives visit our campus and hear from our students,” said Pablo Fuentes, El Paso Campus Director. “It’s important for lawmakers to get a firsthand look at the quality hands-on education offered here at Pima Medical Institute and we are proud to showcase that whenever we have the chance.”
