Health care providers, educators, and businesses collaborated to build a better future at Unitek’s annual conference.
Newark, California – December 10, 2019 – On November 18, 2019, Unitek College hosted their annual conference at the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel in Newark, California. The theme of the conference was “Innovation in Education and Health Care.” Under the Unitek Learning umbrella, participants focused on the importance of high-impact practices for the student learning experience. Additionally, nurse leader Dan Weberg, PhD, RN, MHI, served as keynote speaker for this prestigious event. Throughout the day, Dr. Weberg shared his vision for human-centered patient design and health care innovation.
This trailblazing event featured panelists who are experts in their field, including: Keynote Speaker Dan Weberg, PhD, RN, MHI – Head of Clinical Innovation for Trusted Health; Jim D’Alfonso, DNP, RN, PhD(h), NEA-BC, FNAP – Executive Director of Professional Practice, Leadership Development & Research for Kaiser Permanente in Northern California; Joseph Morris, PhD, MSN, RN, GNP – Executive Officer of the California Board of Registered Nursing; Jessica Gomez, MSN, RN, DC – Nursing Education Consultant with the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians in Sacramento, California; Janette Moreno, DNP, CCRN-K, NEA-BC – Director of Professional Development and Clinical Education at Stanford Children’s Health; Rayne Soriano, PhD, RN – Regional Director of Professional Development and Education in Northern California at Kaiser Permanente; and Colleen O’Leary-Kelly, PhD, RN – Director and Professor for The Valley Foundation School of Nursing at San Jose State University.

The 2019 Annual Unitek Conference illustrated the importance of change for subsequent generations. One key goal of this event was to elevate everyone’s mindset toward innovation. It is critical that participants become change agents by embracing interactive learning, flexibility in the classroom, and collaborative teams. Only then can they grow together and lead this generation toward a better future.
