Associate of Applied Science Degree in Digital Marketing and Associate of Applied Science Degree for Information Technology Support Technician

Richardson, Texas – November 21, 2019 – For the second time in as many months, Vista College online campus has opened enrollment for two new evidence-based degree programs: Associate of Applied Science Degree in Digital Marketing and Associate of Applied Science Degree in Information Technology Support Technician.

The new online digital marketing program is designed to provide students with essential marketing skills used in today’s digital age. Students will have the opportunity to learn contemporary marketing techniques, tools, and tactics and how they can be executed to reach target audiences. Not only will students explore marketing fundamentals and the factors that influence consumer behavior, students will also experience in-depth education on digital channels, strategies, and analytics for measuring successful marketing campaigns. Students will be taught how to create and implement a digital media strategy with the knowledge acquired throughout this program.

“This is a really relevant program for today’s digital age,” said Ann Larson Ed.D., Director of Online Curriculum Development for Vista College. “Social media has changed the way people communicate, get information, shop, and do business; therefore, the demand for skilled professionals is growing in this competitive, real-time, on-demand setting. Being able to successfully launch, manage, and evaluate a digital campaign across various social platforms is essential for a company’s brand and image; and this new program provides students with the techniques, tools, and tactics to reach target audiences across a variety of platforms.”

Graduates may find entry-level employment in a variety of marketing specialist or marketing coordinator roles. These positions could involve working for advertising agencies, marketing departments within small or large corporations, government offices, associations or non-profit enterprises, public interest groups, retailers, and more.

Program graduates are also prepared to take the Google Ads Search Certification exam, which covers topics in at least four areas: optimization, measurement, value proposition of online advertising, and campaign setup and management. Earning the program degree, as well as completing the industry certification, can help graduates stand out amongst other potential job candidates.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of computer support specialists is projected to grow 10 percent from 2018 to 2028, faster than the average for all occupations. More support services will be needed as organizations upgrade their computer equipment and software.

That’s why Vista College online campus is offering its newest IT program. Our Information Technology Support Technician program is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills to provide technical support and troubleshooting services to end-users who need assistance with their computer hardware or software. IT support technicians resolve computer problems for clients in person, via telephone, or electronically. They need well-rounded computer skills necessary for today’s digital age. Tasks generally performed include providing technical support, monitoring computer system performance, collaborating with others to resolve IT issues, and resolving computer problems such as slow performance, connection problems, and an inability to access data.

Graduates may find entry-level employment as a Computer Specialist, Computer Support Specialist, Computer Technician, Desktop Support Technician, Help Desk Technician, IT Specialist, Network Technician, or Technical Support Specialist. These positions could involve working for small businesses to large corporations; federal, state or local government; associations or non-profit enterprises; online retailers; colleges or universities; clinics, hospitals, and other healthcare settings; IT consulting firms; cable companies; and call centers.

Dr. Ann Larson added, “With so much reliance on technology in today’s personal and professional lifestyle, customer-service focused IT professionals are in-demand. Most, if not all, of us have experienced technical difficulty – either in the workplace, with our mobile device, shopping online, or through various other experiences – and have hoped to speak with a knowledgeable, friendly support technician. This new program provides students with the foundations to troubleshoot a range of IT problems and to effectively communicate resolution for non-technical users.”
