House Democrats could introduce their Higher Education Act reauthorization proposal as early as Oct. 15, when Congress is back in session, people familiar with their thinking told POLITICO on Tuesday. Those familiar with the discussions said that while the exact day could change, it’s highly likely the measure could be introduced as early as next week.
— The expectation for the bill is that it would look similar to the Aim Higher Act, H.R. 6543 (115), which was introduced last year and is the House Democrats’ last proposed overhaul of the federal higher education law.
