Veterans for Career Education (VCE) hosted rallies at three Pima Medical Institute campuses as part of the organization’s tour of Career, Tech and Trade Schools across the Western U.S.

Veterans for Career Education rally VCE is an advocacy campaign founded by veterans and supported by Career Education Colleges and Universities (CECU). The organization advocates for the right of military veterans to use their earned education benefits, such as the Post-9/11 GI bill at the college of their choice.

Recently the VCE tour visited Pima Medical’s Tucson and Mesa, Ariz. campuses as well as its Houston campus.

Hundreds of students attended the Tucson and Houston events, and students from all Phoenix-area Pima Medical Institute campuses attended the Mesa rally.

Aaron Brown is a Veterinary Assistant student at Pima Medical’s Phoenix campus and says a four-year program was not an option for him. He believes he should have the freedom to use his earned benefits at any school he chooses to attend.

Veterans for Career Education rally“For a lot of us, when we get out of the military, we need to hit the ground running,” Brown said. “We were trained a certain way and we learn a certain way. Trade schools provide that type of training and a way for us to provide for our families in 18-months compared to four years.”

Victor Chaira is a Nursing student at Pima Medical’s Mesa campus. He says, “Bottom line is that we all served our country. Why should we be limited or restricted on where we can use our benefits when it comes to our education.”

Founded in Tucson, Ariz. in 1972, Pima Medical Institute’s mission is to improve the quality of people’s lives by providing the best value in medical career education. Pima Medical Institute operates 18 campuses as well as an extensive online curriculum.

The medical career college has a presence in eight western states with the following ground locations: Albuquerque and Albuquerque West – Rio Rancho in N.M.; Tucson, Phoenix and two campuses in Mesa, Ariz.; Aurora, Denver and Colorado Springs, Colo.; Seattle and Renton, Wash.; Las Vegas, N.V.; Houston, El Paso and San Antonio, Texas; Chula Vista and San Marcos, Calif.; and Dillon, Mont. For more information and a complete list of programs offered at each campus, visit pmi.edu or call 1-888-442-5998.

To date, VCE has visited more than 20 Career, Tech and Trade schools and more than 1,300 veterans have joined the cause. Those interested in joining can get more information at vetsforcareered.org.
