U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown joined two other U.S. senators in urging the Department of Education Secretary to provide automatic closed school loan discharges for former ITT Tech (ITT) student borrowers.

In a letter to Betsy DeVos, Brown states that students suffered after borrowing from the institution which closed in 2016. More than 3,000 Ohio students were affected, including students in Youngstown, Akron, and Dayton.

After the school closed in 2016, nearly 45,000 students were affected, including 6,000 veterans. Many of the students were in debt, with little hopes of paying it back.
