SALT LAKE CITY— Independence University (IU) continues to fulfill its mission of investing in others’ success by donating 50 tablets to The Sharing Place in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Sharing PlaceThe Sharing Place provides grief support to children ages 3-18 and their parents. Their mission is to provide a safe and caring environment for grieving children, teens, and their families to share their feelings while healing themselves. They do not charge for their services, relying on monthly pledges to operate. “We cannot do this without our community partners and volunteers,” says John Gold, Executive Director of The Sharing Place.

The Sharing Place also works with agencies and schools across the Wasatch Front, providing training and resources to people who work with children. This therapy organization will use the tablets throughout their support groups, while also providing technology for clients who have financial needs. They’re also seeking volunteers to help their organization, so they can continue to grow throughout Utah.

Dr. Alan Hansen, Executive Director of Independence University, says the donation is right in line with the school’s initiative to enrich the educational experience of all people by making technology more accessible. “We are pleased to support charitable organizations that align with our desire to serve our communities and those in need,” says Hansen.
