The Substance Abuse Counseling program at Florida National University-Main Campus has been featured in SR Education Group’s 2019 national online college rankings.

The most affordable online substance abuse counseling degrees are offered at 22 colleges with available courses including Psychopathology & Addictions, Substance Abuse & Criminality, and Addictions Counseling Skills.

SR Education Group has been publishing rankings of online colleges since 2009 and awarding scholarships since 2010. They pride themselves on thorough research and fair assessment of all available online programs, with the hopes of helping students make educated decisions when choosing an online degree.

To be considered for these subject rankings, schools need to be regionally accredited and need to offer at least one fully online degree in a given subject for the degree level of the list. Tuitions were manually researched and reflect the degree level of the list. If no degree level is specified, tuition was collected at the bachelor’s level. Out-of-state tuitions were used unless in-state tuition is offered to all online students. Figures are accurate at the time of publication; please check with the institution for current tuition rates.

Florida National University made the list at #17 with their Bachelor of Science in Psychology – Addiction Studies Concentration costing $19,250.

The numbers are quite close in terms of tuition so this number is only about $10,000 more than #1 and $10,000 less than #20. With this special recognition, the university hopes its status will attract top talent to the South Florida community and train them for this important role in our society.

In addition to the core requirements, these are the courses specific classes. The Addiction Studies and Mental Health concentrations can also be taken as standalone certificates as part of FNU’s certificate offerings for those interested in earning only a certificate in Addiction Studies and/or Mental Health.

This program prepares the students for entry-level positions and advanced professional education in psychology. Students will be exposed to the major domains of psychology and will acquire a solid base of knowledge in each of these domains, as well as be able to integrate and apply knowledge and meet their career goals.

Addiction counseling is a branch of mental health that focuses on those struggling with addictions. While this may be an overlooked, or at least under reported area of mental health, there are patients that struggle every day with the impact their addictions have on their lives.

The human mind plays a starring role in most aspects of our lives. It shapes our behavior, which in turn shapes our world. And that makes the psychology behind addictive studies far more than just a fascinating area of science. It provides a way to see the reasons behind our actions, which lets us understand and improve upon those actions for the betterment of our individual selves, our families, our organizations, our communities, and our whole society.
