Rich Huch, Project Manager for architecture team Seaver Franks and Florencia DeRoussel of Within Studio Interior Design, walked attendees through the 50,000 square foot building. Also on hand for the tour, were Pima Medical Institute’s Chairman of the Board Dick Luebke Jr. and his wife Connie, Corporate Controller Rich Almeroth and Tucson Campus Director Dale Berg.

Organized around a beautiful courtyard that encompasses approximately 25,000 square feet, the exterior of the former school is preserved, but the interior has been completely remodeled to give it a collegiate look and feel. The building now features large classrooms, spacious study areas, real-world labs and training facilities, as well as a nursing simulation lab with arena seating.

“If you look at the design and patterns through the building you’ll see we put a lot of thought into them. We want to recognize that these students’ paths cross, despite the different paths each takes. They not only cross now, but also in the future, and the design reflects that,” said DeRoussel. “From the tile on the floor, to the designs on the walls, we’ve taken care to keep that theme through every inch of this building.”

“This really is our flagship campus,” said Luebke, Jr. “We’ve been committed to this community since we opened more than 46 years ago, and this new campus cements our legacy not just to Tucson, but to our students now and for years to come.”

The campus, which is slated to open to in the spring, has been highly-anticipated by students, faculty and staff.

“Thanks to positive growth at our current campus, we’ve had to move students and staff to multiple buildings,” said Berg. “We are excited to get all faculty, staff and students back under one roof and together again.”

Pima Medical was founded in Tucson in 1972 and since then has built a reputation as one of the best medical career colleges in the Western United States. Pima Medical’s mission is to improve the quality of people’s lives by providing the best value in medical career education, and this new campus will help the school continue that mission well into the future.
