Representative David Schweikert visited the Phoenix Campus of Pima Medical Institute Wednesday, Oct. 17.
Stacey Nottingham, Campus Director and Liby Lentz, Vice President, HR Director with Pima Medical Institute facilitated the tour, showing Representative Schweikert the classrooms and real-world lab facilities of the campus. Schweikert met with students, faculty and staff during his visit.
The Phoenix campus opened in 2015 and serves the western Phoenix area of Glendale, Peoria, Sun City, Goodyear, Scottsdale and other nearby cities. The campus offers associate degree programs in; diagnostic medical sonography, surgical technology, veterinary technician associate degree programs and dental assistant, medical assistant, medical administrative assistant, phlebotomy technician, sterile processing technician and veterinary assistant certificate programs.
During the visit the group also discussed Pima Medical Institute’s partnership with the Health Sciences division of East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT). The partnership, which was a first-of-its kind for Pima Medical is aimed at providing students with a clear pathway from high school onto higher education and into a healthcare career. The dual/early enrollment program will assist students currently enrolled in allied health certificate programs at EVIT to use transfer credits into several of Pima Medical Institute’s associate degree programs.
