ICYMI: Judge Appears Skeptical of Bid to Halt ‘Borrower Defense’ – Politico

A federal judge on Tuesday expressed skepticism about an attempt by for-profit colleges to stop a package of Obama-era student loan rules from taking effect as early as this week, Michael Stratford reports. U.S. District Judge Randolph Moss didn’t immediately rule on a bid by the California Association of Private Postsecondary Schools to block the 2016 “borrower defense” package of regulations. Moss, an Obama appointee, said at various points during a more than three-hour hearing that he wasn’t convinced CAPPS had demonstrated that its member colleges would be irreparably harmed if the regulations took effect.
