The Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET) has rejected an application from Miller-Motte, which leaves the future of the Wilmington technical college unclear.
“I can confirm for you that Miller-Motte is not in process with our agency,” ACCET Associate Executive Director John Shaheen said in response to a question about the status of an application Miller-Motte College submitted in March. “The institution’s application for initial accreditation was not accepted by ACCET.”
Miller-Motte was forced to find a new accreditor when its former accrediting agency, The Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), lost its standing with the Department of Education last December.
In September, Miller-Motte announced it would stop enrolling new students at seven of its campuses across its multi-state system. According to published reports, Miller-Motte could not find a new accreditor for those campuses after the ACICS lost federal recognition.
